About Institute for Fiscal Policy (IFP)
The Institute for Fiscal Policy, a non-state non-profit Institution, was officially registered in 2011, by the Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC), a rights-based, indigenous not-for-profit non-governmental organization and a policy think-tank. The purpose is to consolidate the achievements of the Centre for Budget Advocacy (CBA), a unit of ISODEC since 2000 and to further promote citizens engagements with their governments towards the development of policy alternatives and the practice of transparent and accountable governance.

The CBA, at the time, devoted its activities to the objective of shaping public budgets to serve public interest and social justice objectives. This activity rapidly expanded and by 2010 CBA had linked-up with networks and established outreach programmes in countries such as Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Niger, Mali, Nigeria and The Gambia. Its international networks included the Africa Budget Network facilitated by Idasa in South Africa and the International Budget Network facilitated by the International Budget Project in Washington DC as well as the Global Development Network in India.
