GOV'T MUST PAY ATTENTION TO WATER, HEALTH AND EDUCATION - BISHOP AKOLGO
Bishop Akolgo, executive director of the Integrated Social Development Center (ISODEC), has observed that education, health, and water are so essential to the development of the citizenry and should be given the necessary attention they deserve.
According to him, there should be effective mechanisms put in place to check the disbursement of monies for the development of the three sectors. Mr. Akolgo made these remarks at a three-day workshop organized by the Ghana Coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations on health issues and facilitated by the ISODEC Bolgatanga Office.
Funded by the Netherlands Embassy in Ghana, the workshop sought to build the capacity of members of the Coalition on Rights Based Advocacy issues on health; empower members of the Coalition to enable them contribute to formulation health policies; strengthen their watchdog role to help expose malfeasance in the health sector and check inefficiency in health care administration in the country. The participants were drawn from the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions.
